More Than 1 Million People Sign Petition to bring Down Netflix Comedy Depicting a Gay Jesus

A recent Netflix Christmas Special called “The First Temptation of Christ,” featuring Jesus Christ in a gay relationship and Mary as a weed-smoker, has upset millions around the world who have signed a petition calling for their removal.

Brazil-based YouTube comedy group Porta dos Fundos (which translates to’ Back Door’) produced “The First Temptation Of Christ.” The Sun UK notes that a weed-smoking Mary is portrayed in the 46-minute Christmas Special which reveals that Jesus comes home with a male friend to attend his birthday party.

Approximately 1.4 million people have signed an online petition calling for Netflix to pull the piece and take action against the creators for their’ alleged insensitivity towards Christians.’ The movie shows Jesus and a friend named Orlando arrive at Mary and Joseph’s house throwing for their son a birthday party. Jesus is trying to downplay his friendship with Orlando, who suggests that the pair are more than just friends. Netflix’s summary of the film reads:

“Jesus, who crossed the big 3-0, introduces to the family a surprise guest. It must be from the comedians Porta dos Fundos,’ the description on Netflix, a Christmas special so wrong. “Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of conservative Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, went to social media to denounce the satirical special. He wrote: We support freedom of speech, but is it worth attacking 86% of the population’s belief?
